Jettie looked around after a small while, seeing Demetrius stood by him. Jettie nodded to him and stood up straight, brushing himself and composing himself.

"Sorry about that." He said calmly. "I tend to overreact to situations sometimes, y'know?" Jettie looked about at everyone else, clearing his throat while taking in their reactions of the incident. "It's just that he seem's to handle guns well, it's hard to believe this happened. He was only helping me out no more than 5 minutes ago."

Silence filled the air as he spoke, and jettie began to feel very uncomfortable after his little outburst, but he only had the best of interests when he had. He looked down at the Private and only then saw how much more serious his condition was. It sent chills down Jettie's spine seeing blood. In all his time, here in the military, every conceivable situation that could happen had gone through his mind, but oddly enough not that of an accident.

The silence was soon broken however as the sound of footsteps running toward them were heard outside.

Kiel was still leaning against the wall, observing the shooting and the accuracy of bullet rounds. It was amusing to see the skills slowly being developed in the military's soldiers. An inch of improvement can prove to be a lot on the defensive side of the battle field. Any movement counts and can imminently decide if you would pull out alive or if you would use your last breath. However, death didn't always occur in the midst of battle. By rare circumstance, such atrocity had to happen on a serene day in a casual round at the Shooting Range. The immediate 'bang' vibrated and echoed across the area, disturbing Kiel's casual stance.

A feeling of dread smothered Kiel like moss as he muttered under his breath. "Shit." His word of profanity was quickly spoken as he made his way toward Private Kitsune's scene. Kiel ran across the hall, the tapping of his shoes placidly providing a melody of its own.

The unfortunate sight of Private Kitsune's current state drained Kiel of his positive mood. He kneeled down and observed the blood staining Kitsune's once vibrant visage. Red metal was the evidence left from the what had happened. A gun jam. He heard Demetrius take control of the situation quite easily and Kiel silently applauded his efforts. Kiel admired this.

This wasn't the time to praise, however. Kiel also noticed the wound on Kitsune's neck. The amount of blood suggested something other than what they had hoped for. Time grew still in Kiel's perspective.

Calmly, Kiel spoke, letting the words smoothly flow from his lips, "It's no use." He hated to say that, but it was the truth. As harsh as that was, it was the truth. The truth isn't something to be handled lightly, after all. "He's been taken by the chariot and up into the sky. All we can do is hope that he's okay-" He paused for a moment and motioned toward the ceiling (more preferably), the sky. "Up there."

The running of footsteps grew louder and louder. Sadly, the sound was numb to Kiel's ears.

If there is something that determines the fate of a living being, it is either fate, or some kind of power that is unknown to anyone walking on the face of Earth, or in this case, walking all over the galaxy in their sole existence.

As Sayaka is about to continue with the next round of shooting in the Shooting Range, the sound of a gunfire is being heard, albeit in a very awkward manner. And for this particular person, one of the rule of thumbs she have is once an awkward sound is heard from any sort of firearm, something bad is about to happen. She quickly dropped what she is doing at the moment, and quickly notices that Lieutenant Amherst was already rushing to Leading Private Kitsune, who is already on the ground. She immediately takes the earmuffs off and waste almost no time rushing to see what happened. Activity was halted, but it was easy due to the low number of people using the facility. That is, all of them there in the Shooting Range.

Oh shi-

It was very obvious that something bad and awkward already happened to the Leading Private, who is apparently fine this morning at the assembly in the Unity Bar this morning. So obviously it was surprising to her that a case of a service pistol jamming and firing prematurely has left the Leading Private in such a state. While most other girls would have lost a bit of their self-control when encountering such a grotesque sight, she decided to remain calm when she approached the scene, knowing freaking out anytime now is not exactly the best option. Unfortunately, not everyone shared her sentiment, as evidenced by one of the other Privates losing his cool over what happened.

As she was about to make her next move, the Admiral already moved to check in the situation with the Lieutenant regarding the Private. From what she is able to see, it was apparent that the Private's injury is beyond what they are capable of pulling off now. Even the words of what someone have once said would not help, the impossible is not happening now.

The Admiral already stated the fate of the Private, meaning that there is only one thing: death. It seems that fate is helping the Private today, and fate would have it that someone's journey of life have to end today, at this place.

Disregarding what others might say, she goes to kneel towards her superiors, half a meter in front of the group.

"Admiral Flar and Lieutenant Amherst, I'm going to clear the doorway, the medics would be here by now," she looked at the faces of her superiors with a concerned look and informs them, before standing up, proceeding to the doorway nearby. Making sure that nothing is going to obstruct the medic's path of entry, she proceeds to clear the path for the medics to enter, as the sounds of running footsteps approached them, nearer and nearer.

[OOC: Thanks for responding, everyone.  Time to bring this incident to a close...]

IC:

Demetrius sympathized with Private Tiamara as no one expected such an incident to occur.  Many would have felt a little better if comrades died in battle, rather than a freak accident in a casual atmosphere.  He nudged the Private back as he kneeled down and checked on Private Kitsune's pulse via his right wrist.  He was met with silence; no rhythmic vibrations of the heart pumping blood throughout the body.

It was immediately after this when he heard the Admiral utter a quick word under his breath.  Then Admiral looked down and before Demetrius could verbally confirm, he slowly spoke, "It's no use.  He's been taken by the chariot and up into the sky. All we can do is hope that he's okay-" and paused for a brief moment as he gestured upwards, "Up there."

Demetrius gritted his teeth but he knew there was no arguing that assessment.  He turned when Sergeant Nakano, who seemed to be trying her best to stay calm, stated that she would clear the entryway for the medics' arrival.  He gave her a quick nod as she made her way there.  Then the sound of running footsteps could be heard coming into the Range.  Two medics carrying a medical kit and a stretcher rushed in and set their things down.  Before they could further aid the Private, Demetrius patted their shoulders and shook his head.  Then he reached forward with his hand and covered the now-deceased Private's eyes, closing them forever.

One of the medic's face paled as he turned away and cursed under his breath.  The other stood up and Demetrius followed suit.

"Lieutenant...what happened?" the other medic asked softly.

"It seems that Leading Private Kitsune had a pistol jam.  And the round went off, peppering his face and neck.  I believe the artery at his neck was sliced opened in the process," Demetrius replied, biting his lip in the process.

The medic bent down to look at the Private's neck and nodded as he got up again.  "There wasn't anything you or anyone else here could have done.  Once a main artery opens up like that..."

"Yes, I know.  Thanks for coming anyways," Demetrius said as the two medics carefully placed Private Kitsune's body onto the stretcher and took him out.  He turned toward the Admiral, saluting.

"Sir, I have to supervise a training exercise very soon, at 1600 hours, but with your permission, I will take responsibility and inform the parents of Leading Private Kitsune of his untimely death," he requested.

Jettie silently watched as the Private' body was carried away by the medics. Body? That word rung hollow through him. How could he think of them as a body? Not a person? They just died, but their still someone aren't they? Was it right to referr to them now as a body?

Jettie shook it out of his mind. he was having a hard time trying to come to terms with what he had just witnessed, and it was taking his toll on him mentally. He'd only been talking to the Private no more than ten minutes ago and now he was dead? How could this have happened on such a calm and serene day as this.

He slowly withdrew to wards the back as he stayed deep in though and shock. He glanced around after a moment noticing everyone else. Demetrius was saluting the Admiral and saying something about a training exercise.

He couldn't take it much more. the color had drained from his face and everything was beginning to spin. He tried to blink it away to regain some composure but eventually gave in. "I need some air." he stated abruptly and briskly walked out of the range. He didn't know where he was going as long as it was away from there.

[OOC: Keiji, sorry, I have to get my character moving.]

Though he didn't want to rush, he had to get moving to prepare for the scheduled training exercise that was supposed to start within the hour.  After saluting the Admiral, he walked over and carefully removed the magazines from his weapons and placed them in his duffel.  Before he left the range, he took off his safety gear and stuffed those in his bag as well.

Then he made his way back to his quarters, where he put away his weapons and then looked around.  He knew he could get all the required gear at the Training Grounds.  After double-checking everything, he exited the room, locked the door, and made his way there.

Jettie slowly reached the exit, stepping through the doors and out into the fresh clean air. He gave a sigh of relief, glad to be out of the dark depressing atmosphere that had clouded over and consumed the shooting range.

He walked off to the side of the door, his back pressing against the surface of the wall as he leaned back against it, breathing deeply for air as if he'd been choked. Closing his eyes he tilted his head back and slowly regained himself. He just couldn't believe what had happened still.

The gun had jammed and the round rent off in the chamber like a grenade. A reminder to himself just exactly why he striped down his pistol, cleaned, and polished every single part every day, to avoid such tragedies.

However, he knew it was pointless to keep dwelling on it. Thinking about it all day wouldn't turn back time. Takashi was gone and that was it. Strange though, he thought, I never even knew him. Who he was, where he was from or anything. Yet I still find it hard to accept. Maybe because he was a fellow officer?

He sighed again, looking at the cold concrete ground. He noticed that a deathly silence had fallen over the island and it made him uneasy. Slowly he stood straight and decided it was best to leave, slowly taking a few steps away from the range.

[OOC] I'm heading for the cantine, unless anyone has anything to add to that at all.

Sayaka was not spewing a single word on the case, but whatever happened, already happened. It is basically no use to dwell on the issue, things like this bound to happen in a way, on a rather good day, on top of that.

However, there are more important things to be attended to than a removing a dead person out of the area, as she noticed that Lieutenant Amherst already made his way out of the Shooting Range for a scheduled training exercise with some of the military personnels, and she is one of them scheduled to take part in it.

Saluting the Admiral as a mark of respect, she quickly went back to her spot, quickly making sure that the large assault rifle is already unloaded and the safety's has been locked, and the pistols are switched to safe. She stores the rifle in the bag, and re-holsters the pistol, before quickly made her way off the Shooting Range, saluting anyone she would salute to, and went straight to the Training Grounds.
