A greyish outline of a massive humanoid figure could barley be made out in the distance as the morning sunrays made its way trough the light fog embracing the shady figure, the rays made a visual effect that played with the mind making it believe that the figure emitted rays like a sun in the depths of deepspace, a small breeze twirled the autumn leaves making them dance along the rocky roads of the mountains.

As leaves danced trough the air infront of the shady figure a two green lights flickered trough the fog for a split second only to remain constant.

The main controls light up in a soft dim green light and the familiar sound of the Calamity´s computer and OS booting up swept trough the cockpit as it had done so many times before, with a flicker the main screen came to life and the cockpit was illuminated in a soft green light that reflected the mainscreen in Christoph´s eyes making them glow soft green.

Christoph slowly throttled up and made the Calamity move slowly forward with loud thumping sounds as the weight from the mobilesuit crushed the stones beneath its massive legs, it slowly appeared out of the fog that like a curtain slowly revealed the Calamity in its true form, a massive mobilesuit with firepower equal to several standard mobilesuits.

As the Calamity was slowly revealed the “Todesblock" bazooka was resting on it right shoulder, it was an intimidating oversized bazooka that packed a large punch on any unlucky suit that came in its way, the large double "Schlag" beam cannons stretched from its backpack like lances taken from an old medieval movie, these lances didn’t need to hit their foe physically, they are deadly from great distances, on its left arm a large shield with double barrelled "Kaefer Zwei" ram cannons showed its foe that it was more then capable to defend itself.

Christoph pushed the com, a soft static sound could be heard trough the cockpit-speakers.

“This is Christoph Von Crailsheim, powered up and ready to go, Good Luck and may the best man win”

Brian put on the helmet of his pilot's suit and double checked the seals. He wasn't in space, but it was a good habit, and so he encouraged himself to do it every time he went to pilot any unit in any environment. However, he refrained from lowering the helmet's visor, as there wasn't any need. He finished readting himself for combat, then turned to the next important task: Readying the mobile suit for combat. He'd be using a recreation of the GAT-X102 Dual Gundam with its assault shroud equipment in this match. He found himself eager to try it out, but he caught himself and reminded himself that even though this wasn't life-or-death, it wasn't a game either. With that in mind, he began running through the unit's systems.

"G.U.N.D.A.M. OS booting up. All systems online. All beam weapons charged, all others resupplied. PS armor responds all clear. Visual sensors online. Radar online. Mobile systems active. Green lights across the board."

As he said this all to himself, various lights and displays activated and began reporting the status of various systems. Monitors activated and displayed the hangar the Duel was inside. In the fog and dust swirled up by the wind, the Duel Gundam came to life. As a brief test, he moved the controls for the feet just a little. Obedient to his touch, the Duel responded to every move he made. After a few different basic maneuvers, Brian was satisfied that everything was working as it should.

Brian pressed the button that controlled the Duel's most important defensive system, the Phase-Shift armor. The armor changed color to its standard blue colors as, at last, the pilot and mobile suit both stood ready for combat.

"Brian Tsukamoto. One-oh-two Duel Assault Shroud, reporting ready for combat operations. Good luck to you as well, One-thirty-one." Brian used the model numbers of the different mobile suits to refer to them, a habit that likely wouldn't last as the battle got underway.

The main screens countdown had begun as large green numbers counted down from ten in the lower right corner of the screen, trough the cockpitspeakers a female computerized voice stated the purpose of the countdown

“Battle will commence in, 10 – 9- 8 - 7 – 6”

Christoph readied himself for combat as his hands squeezed the maincontrols tightly to make sure he had the best grip and wouldn’t slip on the controls, such a mistake could cost him the whole thing.

“5-4-3-2”

Pictures and sounds ran trough Christoph´s as the countdown was in its final stages, Christoph there is no need for anger, there is no need for rush, make sure to do it right, he could se his brother smiling down at him with his hair twirling in the hillside winds of Crailsheim, Thank you my brother I know your watching over me and that you assist me in the times of crises.

“1- ENGAGE!”

Christoph rapidly pulled the controls into reverse the Calamity´s thrusters light up and pushed it the Calamity backwards into the soft fog that had concealed it partially before, the leaves twirled in small tornados when the draft emitted from the thrusters engulfed them.

Christoph piched to controls and the Calamity stretched out its arms to the sides as he pushed the fire button, a vaporizing sound rumbled trough the fog with a reddish glow, trough the fog the "Scylla" 580mm beam blasted its way out and made the fog where it exited twirl in circle like motions.

Christoph maxed the thrusters sending the Calamity into a rapid motion strafing out trough the fog, it plummeted out of the fog in a gracious posture as he tried to flank the Duel Gundam with its “Todesblock” bazooka in an aiming position.

As the countdown began, Brian removed his hands from the controls and put them together as though he was praying. However, rather than seeking divine assistance, Brian was simply trying to calm his nerves. He replaced his hands as the countdown reached "two". He had somewhat succeeded in calming himself, but he was still somewhat on edge. Nevertheless, it was the best he could do under the circumstances.

The final two seconds passed, but when the battle began, the Duel did not move from its position right away. Instead, Brian began aiming his beam rifle, locking on with the radar and hoping that the enemy would begin strafing rather than attack right away. However, as he prepared to pull the trigger, a reddish flash caught his eye. Pure instinct took over as he pushed the Duel down and to the left, attempting to dodge the enemy's attack. He succeeded and the Scylla cannon blast went over his right shoulder, but the force from the blast pushed his mobile suit over and it fell into a kneeling position. However, Brian didn't bother to stand again, instead taking careful aim at the moving radar blip on his screen.

He made a quick selection on a weapons panel and pulled the trigger. As he did, his beam rifle fired a blast directly at the enemy mobile suit. His Shiva cannon fired at the same time on a similar heading. He adjusted his aim slightly and pulled the trigger again, sending another volley of shots at where the Calamity would be if it simply cut its thrusters to avoid the first attack. He then raised his shield in a defensive posture, just in case his defensive trick didn't work. His hands tensed on the controls and his eyes strained for any indication of return fire.

A loud rumble scrambled trough the mountains as the tremendous power of the Scylla beamcannon buried itself into the rocks behind the Duel.

The Duel returned fire against the Calamity without even moving, a bold move making the shoots more accurate but leaving the Duel in a somewhat more vulnerable position.

Christophs cockpit was illuminated in red when the lock-on alarm rang trough out the system, main screen warning, light warning and of course the audio warning made sure to the pilot that this was a serious incoming threat, the first beam from the duel ripped trough the air as fast as a lightning bolt, Christoph raised the shield some inches to make sure it was in the right position he had the advantage that he was trying to flank the Duel on its right making the shield almost in a defending position from the beginning. A loud bang echoed trought the Calamity as the beam hit its shield in an instant the bang was replaced by a very heavy rattling making Christoph shake in the pilot seat the first shiva shoot had missed and hit the rocks close behind him with a huge force, boulders from the mountain rained over him and shook the interior of the Calamity, if this wasn’t enough the HUD still displayed two more incoming threats, Christoph thrusted upwards with full power making the Calamity airborn, with some fast moves with the controls the Calamity had changed position and the beam ripped by underneath so close that you could almost feel the heat it emitted.

The last shiva shoot was aimed somewhat higher and hit the raised shield with an immense power forcing the Calamity backwards, with a hard impact the Calamity slammed into the rocks behind it, the interior shook violently forcing Christoph´s grip to harden around the controls to make sure he didn’t accidentally lose the control of the Calamity, even a split second without control could mean the end of this battle.

Christoph slid against the rocks with the Calamitys back, he moved one leg back and pushed the Calamity forward with a kick simultaneously as he burned the thrusters. As bat out of hell the Calamity bursted forward, with its shield covering its torso and the todesblock bazooka in a forward position randomly firing three shoots in the vicinity of the Duel, taking some more time to aim Christoph fired the Calamitys two “Schlag” beam cannons.

Brian's radar registered the blocked shots and misses that he had fired, but he was too busy to notice, watching closely for signs of the enemy. He saw a bright light from the Calamity's thrusters and his hands twitched, but he stood still. Barely a second later, however, he saw a small flash from the Calamity's direction. At this, his hands moved as fast as they could and the Duel leaped into evasion. The mobile suit used the crouching position in conjunction with its thrusters to jump into the air at a high velocity to its left. This evasion technique left the bazooka blasts in the dust, and they exploded harmlessly on the ground.

Brian punched his thrusters to move to his left and was preparing another volley when alarms began blaring in the cockpit. The Duel raised its shield just in time to catch one of the beams from the Calamity's beam cannons, while the other beam missed by about a foot off his left side. The force was incredible, and Brian wasn't sure the anti-beam coating on the shield wouldn't be able to take this kind of punishment more than twice more. If the Duel hadn't already been airborne, the force from the shot would have knocked it flat on its back. However, due to Brian's altitude, he was able to stabilize the mobile suit and make a safe landing.

Almost as soon as the Duel had landed, it took off again, this time to the Duel's right. He got a quick lock-on and fired a barrage of missiles from the missile pod on his shoulder. Hoping that the attack would occupy the enemy for a split-second too long, he then let loose with two shots from his beam rifle. His first shot targeted the Calamity's right shoulder while the second was aimed at the left shoulder.

The HUD registerd a hit on the Duel by one of the “schlag” beam cannons, apperntly the pilot of the Duel had good reflexes as it blocked the beam with its shield and made its own attack run.

Christoph smiled to himself, Well at least a worthy opponent, this is going to be good.

The HUD filled with small dots approaching in high-speed, he raised the shield in a instant a split second later there was explosions that pounded the shield and rocked the Calamity to the bone, fortunately the trans-phase armor handled the missile damage like clockwork and the Calamity stood rock steady as the smoke faded away raveling an undamaged suit.

Christoph was confident that he had evaded the foolish Duels attack when from out of nowhere a beam ripped straight at his right regions of the Calamity, Well you are full of surprises aren’t you?, he thrusted to the left and the beam flashed by in an istant, Well, Well, your fast but not…. BEEP BEEP! The lock-on alarm went of and the hud was engulfed in the bright green light from the incoming beam that cut straight trough the right shoulder thruster that exploded into a bright light, trowing the Calamity to its left, Christoph compensated with the Calamitys left thruster so he wouldn’t loose his balance,  black smoke poured out of the now mailfunctioning thruster as the OS still tried to fire it up.

“Thruster malfunction, Thruster malfunction” Christoph muted the sound and manually bypassed the malfunctioned thruster, Okay, enough is enough.

Christoph raised the bazooka and fired two rounds that ripped trough the air infront of the Calamity, a swift motion to the right and a single barrage with the double “Schlag´s” that made the Calamity slid backwards some inches on the rocks simultaneously as the “schylla” already had began its deadly approach for the Duel.

Brian detected the incoming bazooka shells on his radar and kicked himself to thr right to dodge them. The first one, however, caught his left leg and sent him spinning through the air. The Phase Shift armor prevented any significant damage, but it threw Brian completely off balance. The Duel was only beginning to recover when the lock-on warning flared up yet again. The dual beam cannons had fired again, but this time a Scylla blast was right behind it. He only had a split second to act, so he trusted his instincts and activated the proper controls.

The Duel cut its vertical engines and leaned slightly to the right, which allowed the bean cannons blasts to fly over the Duel's right shoulder and head. The heat from the blasts scoured, scorched and melted surface armor of the shoulder and the side of the head, but was unable to cut through to the more vital components. However, Brian wouldn't be so lucky with Scylla blast, which came only a split-second later. As he had cut the vertical thrusters, he had activated his horizontal thrusters, pushing his mobile suit backward in an attempt to "roll with the punch" while his shield came up to block the shot. The tactic was successful in that in stopped the attack from destroying the mobile suit. However, the horizontal movement had flattened the profile of his mobile suit, and some of the Scylla blast overflowed and passed just above the mobile suit's head. An effect similar to what had happened with the beam cannons occurred, and armor was melted and scorched. However, while the sensors and cameras were safe with little exception, the molten metal flowed into the cannon holes of the CIWS system, effectively ruining the small scale weapon system.

The force from the blast pushed the Duel to the ground and it hit the ground at high speed. Brian could feel the impact in every bone in his body as the mobile suit shook like crazy. Gathering his senses, he quickly flipped the mobile suit over and moved to a kneeling position. As risky as it was, Brian decided to try a trick twice and stay knelt on the ground. He did, however, move to a position where his torso was facing the enemy. There was, after all, no need to do everything exactly the same. He locked onto the target and fired a steady stream of four shots, beginning with a Shiva cannon blast and alternating with the beam rifle in a steady rhythm.

Christoph watched the skilled evasive manuvers by the Duel, any ordinary pilot would surely been pulverized by the incoming beams shoots, he cracked a smile as the Duel once again was kneeling and taking aim against him.

The Duels shoulder cannon flashed and a railgun shoot swooped trough the air, Christoph raised the shield once again while he still flanked to the right of the Duel, the impact on the shield rocked the Calamity, the immense power of the railgun made the calamity skid backwards as the interior panels rattled, some monitors was on the branch of breaking away from their weldings making them flicker and go static for some seconds.

The Calamity was still sliding backwards as three more beams was heading towards it, I guess im not the only one who likes the trigger Christoph managed to crack a smile as the first beam was blocked by the shield in a huge green “explosion” as the beam vaporized pushing the Calamity eveb further back, the second beam scorched its way trough the Calamitys upper right arm and loud explosion rattled the Calamity and warning icons popped up almost everywhere on the HUD, the cockpits standard green illumination from the HUD had now been changed into a red light that pulsed on and off.

“Arm malfunction, Arm malfunction, “Todesblock” Disengaged”

As the arm was lost the “Todesblock” was trown to the ground with highspeed from the explosion, the impact was so intense that the remaining ammunition exploded inside the bazooka, the explosion threw shrapnel all over the Calamity and its surroundings, the last explosion was to much for Christoph as he still was trying to compensate for the arm explosion. The Calamity was pushed sideways down in the rocky-dirt by the blast wave, skidding along the rocky ground trowing rocks and small debris in its path, thick smoke emitting from the former right arm, Christoph was trown from side to side in his pilot seat his helmet absorbing the otherwise bone crushing force, his straps still keeping him in his seat.

The Calamity hadn’t even come to a stop as Christoph managed to get it somewhat upright, in a kneeling position its head facing the ground and the left arm pushing the shield against the ground supporting its weight with smoke still pouring out from its former right arm, Christoph raised the Calamitys head into an upright position facing the Duel straight on.

“I hope you know your going to regret ever challenging me.”

Christoph kicked the Calamity into a fast sprint forward with its thrusters on maximum intending to ”frighten” the Duels pilot, the rocks flew around the Calamitys feet as it ran over them, thick black smoke twirling in its path. Christoph coverd his advancement with two double salvos with the double “Schlag” cannons just before he forced the Calamity upwards with a forceful burst with the thrusters making it airborn. Flying over the Duel Christoph fired the “Schylla” chest cannon vertical as the torso was facing the Duel beneath.

Brian began to grin as he realized the havoc his attacks were playing with the Calamity. He realized it was going to take a bit more work to get the enemy where he wanted it though. As the enemy stood up, he heard the other pilot on the comm channel.

“I hope you know your going to regret ever challenging me.”

"Heh, well, we'll see abou..."

Brian broke off as the Calamity broke into a sprint toward him. It was moving faster than he though possible for such an encumbered mobile suit. He realized his job had just gotten a lot harder. He waited until the lock-on warning sounded, then leaped straight into the air as he had done the first time. As he did so, the first blast from the Schlag cannons passed underneath, their incandescent fury reminding Brian what would have happened had he not dodged the assault.

As the Duel gained altitude, it simultaneously put the beam rifle away in the storage rack on the mobile suit's back, an act that was premeditated from almost before he adopted the kneeling position he had just left. He was prepared for the second assault as well, and maneuvered slightly to the right to catch one of the Schlag blasts on his shield, while the other flashed past him on the left. Barely any of the anti-beam coating was left by the time the green beam had spent itself. Again, Brian followed his plan and brought his right hand up while he punched his thrusters toward the enemy, moving as fast as he could. The hand grasped the beam saber and pulled it off, activating the beam.

It was the third attack that Brian hadn't anticipated. The Scylla attack came so suddenly that Brian barely had time to raise his shield. The minimal amount of anti-beam coating on the shield absorbed the brunt of the attack, but what force was left completely destroyed the shield and the left arm, including the missile pod. Alarms rang throughout the cockpit, but Brian focused on his target, keeping himself on course and accelerating by pushing the thrusters to their limits.

In counterattack, the Duel engaged the Calamity in its weak point: close range. The right arm came down and swung upward at the Calamity's left shoulder. He then brought the arm straight back, only to push it out again, this time in a side-swiping motion that if left unblocked and undodged, would slice right at the base of the Schlag cannons. As he completed this last maneuver, the Duel cut its thrusters and waited for the pull of gravity.

The moment that Christoph had tried to avoid had finally come, the Duel had engaged him in close combat, These damn close combat people, why oh why….

Christoph parried the upwards slash with the shield, sparkles danced its way all over the shield and cascaded trough the air as the shield stood against the mighty force of the beam-sabre, with some struggle Christoph managed to push away the beam-sabre only to find a incoming sweeping slash the also got blocked by the shield with a swift move, this time the sparkles cascaded with even more intense fury as the shield started to give away for the power of the beam-sabre.

Well I guess ill have to make a sacrifice to get out of this one.

The MS´s measured their strength with the Calamity trying to push back the beam-sabre with its failing shield and the Duel forcing its beam-sabre closer and closer trough the melting shield, Christoph made one last push with the shield against the Duel trying to force it a little further away from him simultaneously as he released the shield from the Calamitys firm grip, trying to force it open the Duel, he thrusted backwards as he kicked away from the Duel and fired his chest cannon “Schylla” at the shield hoping that the ram-cannons ammo that hadn’t been used would explode with the shield, buying him some time.

ooc: short one.... in a hurry, laundery day

The Calamity's swift moves with its shield impressed Brian a great deal. His opponent was either very good, or he was a psychic. Brian didn't much believe in the supernatural, so he opted for the view that the opposing pilot was no amateur. The enemy blocked the first attack, then the second, and then did something that confused Brian. At first he thought the enemy was trying to run him down until the Calamity kicked itself away and Brian realized that he was still in contact with the shield.

"What in the world? Why would it jettision its shield like that? Sure it buys it time, but... Wait. Didn't I see cannons on the..."

Brian's eyes widened in comprehension of the enemy's plan just a moment too late. He pushed the shield away from him, but the Scylla blast caught the shield about a foot away from the Duel. The unspent ammunition ignited and exploded with a large amount of force. The shockwave propelled him backwards and overloaded the saber in his hand, shutting it down, while the Scylla shot through the shield and destroyed the Duel's head. Static filled the monitors inside the cockpit for a second before the backups installed in the unit came online to show the Duel headed for the ground. For the second time, the Duel smashed into the ground and would have sent Brian flying all around the cockpit had it not been for the restraints. Alarms sounded and red lights flashed all around Brian, loudly complaining about the damage the unit had suffered. Brian flicked a switch that cut off the grating sounds of the alarms, EVERYTHING AFTER THIS IS NULLED then stood the mobile suit up again, quickly taking stock of his situation.

"I've still got the beam rifle and the grenade attached to it. The Shiva still works and I've got one beam saber left. Dangit! I thought I would've had him once I got to close range! Well, he's not in much better shape." He had to chuckle, given that he'd eliminated every hand-held weapon the Calamity possessed. Of course, it still had some tricks up its sleeve, as the previous Scylla blast indicated.

"Some of the most obvious options have been eliminated for both of us. Things should really start getting interesting."

Brian faced the Calamity, then hit his thrusters again, moving as quickly as he could to his left. He locked onto the target and launched a four-shot barrage. First, the beam rifle and the Shiva cannon fired simultaneously, aimed straight at the Calamity itself. Then the Shiva cannon fired a second shot, aimed to the right of the Calamity ((Chris's left)). It was closely followed by the grenade that was mounted on the beam rifle, which streaked on a course to the Calamity's left.

The plan had worked as a charm, knocking out most of the Duels fighting power with the sacrifice of the shield and ram cannons. But the Duel’s pilot seemed to be a determined man as he continued to wage battle with out some of his quite critical systems.

The Duel once again fired upon the Calamity that forced Christoph to once again take evasive actions, pulling the Calamitys controls with all his strength Christoph managed burst out of the way to his left, evading the incoming shiva round as it ripped by his right and slammed into the ground with rocks cascading trough the air raining down on the Calamity sending metal clonks trough the cockpit, the beam whipped by at Christophs right passing by where his former right arm had been, if it hadn’t been destroyed already it would have been now.

But he wasn’t out of harms way yet, as soon as he had evaded the first shoots a shiva round rammed the Calamitys chest straight on sliding it backwards trough the rocky terrain, the Calamitys HUD indicated yet another incoming threat, Christoph fired a “Schylla” round simultaneously as he squeezed the double “schlags” trigger several times, a bright light blinded Christoph, he raised his left hand to protect him from the intense bright light that almost burned his eyes out, the Calamity was violently thrown backwards into the air slamming down into the ground with thick smoke in its trail, shrapnel was blown into the cockpit and sliced trough Christophs left hand that protected his eyes, a sharp metal shrapnel had wedged its way trough his hand another had found its way into this left leg, blood ran from his hand down on his face as the Calamity laid on its back, a intense pain from his left leg sent shockwaves trough his body

The grenade had hit his schylla cannon straight on as it had fired, causing the schylla to malfunction and explode as it malfunctioned.

With his vision blurred by blood that had dripped down into them from his wounded left hand, Christoph tried to get the Calamity on its legs constantly squeezing the “Schlags” trigger until the Calamity finally stopped responding to his commands, the last interior explosion had caused heavy damage to the battery draining it several times faster then normal.

The Calamity stood as a frozen statue in the middle of the battle arena with smoke pouring out from its several damaged systems with Christoph still squeezing the trigger inside the cockpit.

Brian anticipated the initial counter-attack and threw his thrusters into reverse. As a result, the Scylla and the Schlag cannon blasts passed in front of him, setting the sky alight. However, thus far the enemy had used his firepower wisely and had made each of his shots count for something. Now, however, the Calamity threw out beams like there was no tomorrow, and Brian simply couldn't evade them all, even if he had known the wild attack was coming.

Many of the attacks were wild misses, but they did serve to distract him from the ones that would hit. One shot vaporized the front half of the beam rifle, and the Duel was barely able to drop it before the remainder exploded. Yet another beam passed within inches of his left torso, and the high temperatures boiled away at armor and ignited thruster fuel, destroying some of the thrusters on that side. A third shot punched through the torso about two feet above the cockpit. The attack wreaked havoc with power distribution systems and, had the head still been present, would have completely severed power to it. The Duel's operating system somehow managed to patch a minimal power feed to the right arm, enough to use his remaining beam saber or fire a half-power shot from the Shiva.

"This is REALLY getting old!" The Duel plummeted yet again and, yet again, Brian was helpless to stop the mobile suit from smashing into the ground. The violent impact was not as bad as before, due to the fact that the Duel had lost a lot of mass, but contributed to a headache that was beginning to build. A warning screen indicated that the holes in the armor were causing the PS armor to waste a lot of energy, using much more than it should have. Brian figured it was useless at this point anyway, since the bazooka and cannons had been destroyed, so he quickly deactivated the defensive system before the power drain left him helpless.

Brian located the Calamity on radar and threw his mobile suit up to try and mount some sort of counterattack. He quickly moved to his right and locked on with the Shiva. He was moments away from pulling the trigger when he stopped himself. Something wasn't quite right with this situation. The Calamity didn't give any outward appearance of having followed the Duel's movements. As a matter of fact, Brian wasn't sure if it had moved at all after that insane attack. Cautious of a trap, Brian maintained his lock as he opened a comm channel. Even if the Calamity was out of power, emergency batteries should keep the comm system online for a few minutes.

Brian spoke without preamble and with just a small tinge of irritation clouding his voice. "Hey, Calamity! What's up? Is there a problem over there?"

Whoops, you guys moving too quickly.

As of two posts ago when Brian's head was blown off the battle is declared over. Sorry for the slow responses!
