Valiant

((OOC: your last sentence is a little obscure KCT, he keeps the sniper rifle where?  Did he put it away after returning fire?  Or has he dropped his shield so he could use the rifle and saber at the same time? Please clarify the last sentence for us  ))

As Sam maneuvered his way closer to the cityscape, he grinned as he noticed that the Buster Dagger's pilot responded to his challenge.  Then a constant whine blared out, indicating that the Buster Dagger had locked onto his suit.  However, since the alarm indicated only a lock-on, rather than weapons fire, Sam approached the nearest building; a small, five-story ramshackled grey building.

Sam twisted his suit's torso and lifted its right arm.  Then he pulled the trigger, firing a controlled burst of his 57mm rifle.  A small flurry of scattered shells flew in the general direction of the B.Dagger, but it was already in the extreme range of the rifle.  Sam already knew that; he didn't expect any of the shots to actually hit.

"Let's keep on our toes now..." Sam whispered, hoping that this battle would be worthwhile.

The GINN circled around him and fired a few shots at him, signalling his intent. Valiant replied by igniting his thrusters, lifting his CGUE of the ground. The body of the mobile suit leaned to its right as it began circumnavigating around the opponent. The volley of fire from the GINN's rifle punctured the ground slightly behind where Valiant stood moments ago. Had he dallied longer, the opponent would have scored a direct hit. Aggressive eh, Valiant mused silently. The initial shots were testimony of the pilot's marksmanship. However, Valiant wondered how he would fare against a moving target.

The silver CGUE brought its machine gun to bear and let loose a salvo in the direction of the GINN. Valiant seemed relaxed as his CGUE continued to drift to its right. His predictable movement was a bait to tempt the enemy. Valiant was scrutinizing the GINN, ready to pull off an evasive manoeuvre.

Intermittent gunfire punctuated by the bursts of thrusters provided grim background music in the arena. The other pilots were probing their opponents, looking for any weaknesses that they might exploit.

The battle flowed into heated one-on-one conflicts between the members of the two teams. The situation provided a slight relief for Kanzaki, as most of his cohorts preferred fighting individually in the first place. He would later wonder if they had any intention to coordinate themselves in the first place. But explosions shook the atmosphere, Valiant was locked in his sights, and the time for deliberation was nil.

And suddenly, movement. A downward thrust propelled Shirai's GINN downward the moment he saw the CGUE drew its gun arm forward. The nimble machine spiralled forward amidst bursts of gunfire, responding with his own. His common sense told him that plowing forward was highly dangerous, but a desire burned within him to discover how much he could get away with, against this man. "Come on!" He taunted, perhaps with the sole reason of bolstering his own confidence.

(OOC: boy do i feel stupid i kept thinking to myself "gosh when's the next person going to post?"  guess i need to pay more attention. Again I'm terribly sorry)

Locke growled as his target moved behind some cover. The enemy unit then raised its rifle and took a potshot at Jonathan. Easily avoiding the incoming fire, Locke took a moment to think about what to do next.

He could use his rifle to reduce the building to rubble but that would probably take too much energy. Locke aimed his rifle to where he thought the enemy might run to, and then aimed what missiles he had to where he thought the mobile suit was hiding behind the building.

“I can only fire these once so I hope this will be worth it…”

The missiles streamed out from his mobile suit and he waited to see what would happen. The enemy mobile suit would have to expose himself shoot down the incoming or risk the possibility of getting splash damage from the impact.

He's pretty good... He mused. Of course, if he didn't follow up with things, it would mean little to simply dodge his long range attacks. Instead his Astray opponent had calmly dealt with things and readied himself for a melee attack.

The Danse knew that things were just getting started, though. It would have been too simple, too easy if everything went his way. A good challenge was enough to bring him down to earth and evaluate his own strengths and weaknesses as well.

A simple attack will do....For now... He maneuvered the machine and made it charge towards the Astray with an extra burst of speed, slashing hard with his beam claws from the left to right. Considering the speed he was going at, the Danse smiled.

It just might go according to plan...

A clear smirk is drawn across Ryota's face when he sees that his opponent, in the GuAIZ, was doing what he have expected the moment he sees the moment the GuAIZ readies the beam claws. He was not surprised at that, but yet he know what any wrong moves would cost himself the battle, and probably, the team.

I guess that whoever can manage a ZAFT mobile suit would be pretty good, especially with a GuAIZ. The pilot then thinks for a split second. No wonder ZAFT pilots are among some of the most feared mobile suit pilots on this universe, I guess.

Based on what he faced, he knew all too well that charging straight at the enemy would be basically a replacement for suicide. To his knowledge, the GuAIZ is known to have plenty of tricks up in their sleeve, given the amount of 'strange' weaponry a GuAIZ have, with the shield-and-claws one of them. Although, there is something else on the GuAIZ that annoys him, and he knew that he might be flying into a trap from that 'something else'.

Quickly, he swings the beam saber at a 45-degree to the upper right, in a wide arc, to block the beam claws from striking the M1A Astray. In succession, he moves the left arm of the M1A Astray, and quickly thrusts the bottom tip of the shield onto the front, as some kind of punching weapon, towards the center torso of the GuAIZ.

Samuel managed to reach the cover of the building and not a moment too soon.  A rapid series of whines sounded out as weapons fire was detected.  Samuel could hear the whooshing of missiles as they closed in.  Figuring that the Buster Dagger's pilot may be anticipating where he may pop out, instead, Sam let the missiles come.  Three of the missiles smashed into the building, throwing concrete and pieces of steel around, some of which dinged against Sam's own Dagger.

The other three winded around and closed in on Sam.  He quickly fired bursts from his CIWS, batting away two of the remaining missiles.  He then boosted back, hoping to keep the building between himself and the Buster as he fired his rifle at the last missile.  The missile exploded fairly close, throwing fragments and scarring some armor plating.  The explosion also shook Sam around and disorienting him for a split second.  After re-orienting himself, he realized a part of his Dagger was probably exposed to fire after avoiding the missiles...

The GINN charged towards him. Valiant's instinctive reaction threw his CGUE into standard evasive procedures. Seeing that his opponent had thrown caution in the wind, he decided to take a gamble as well. He took aim and fired with both the rifle and the vulcan mounted on the shield. The unleashed a few shots with the vulcan to make the GINN dodge and fired the rifle in the directions he predicted the opponent would make.

As the enemy closed on him, Valiant engaged the thrusters and leaned back on the lift they provided. Keeping his sights on the GINN, he manoeuvred the CGUE as it flew backwards.

OOC: Kaizer, could we just alternate between the opponents rather than wait for the whole cycle through the participants?

OOC: It'll be a little tougher to look through, but I guess we can, given the time that its taken to get this far, I think we can be a little more lenient in these kinds of things.  I'm actually thinking of revamping the rules sections of the coliseum page, but thats something to discuss elsewhere.  So from now on, merely worry about replying to your opponents posts.

With intensified concentration, the Danse timed and turned off the beam claws, switching the position of the GuAIZ's arm such that he was now doing a shield charge instead. It clashed with the beam saber, and he was satisfied with the fact that there was some recoil but no of loss of balance on his part.

However, the shield attack was a different thing altogether. Although he had slowed down a little, it could be tricky to dodge, but the devil in him relished the prospect of giving a display of showmanship.

As the GuAIZ slowed down, coupled with his earlier clashing earlier on, he stepped on the gas and flew up a little. Using the shield as an additional deflector, he swung up such that the GuAIZ was literally horizontal.

The Danse grinned. he pulled it off, though he was a little further from where he intended to be. Up next would be... Without hesitating after his little move was completed, he zipped forward and pulling out his beam rifle, fired three shots each from above at his opponent, all aimed at the head, arms and as he sped past, two more at his back.

Locke’s grin turn into a frown of disappointment as he saw the enemy Dagger stagger to avoid his missiles. It unnerved Locke to be taking the initiative, sure offense was the best defense but something was throwing him off about lack of offense that his opponent had been taking so far. Perhaps his opponent was hiding something for the last minute or maybe Locke was playing into his hand somehow.

“Well…” Locke readjusted his rifle to where the dagger was exposed, keeping his weapon in the scatter shot configuration. “Beggars can’t be choosers…” Slowly his computer beeped in a lock-on confirmation. “And I’m not about to give you a chance to recover!” Locke squeezed the trigger sending off a blast from his rifle. He wondered what his oppenent was going to do now.

Samuel grunted as he nearly broke both control sticks in order to avoid the oncoming spreadshot.  Once again, he managed to use the ruined building as cover.  The multi-shot missed by only a small margin and Sam nodded with approval.

"It seems this pilot will find any opportunity or weakness...that's good," he thought as he knew his 'turtling' would not hold out forever.  Besides, it wouldn't be like him to hide like this for too long.

He activated his "Panzer Eisen" and shot it at a nearby fallen light pole.  He made sure that the anchor clamped onto it rather than impale it as he estimated the Buster Dagger's location.  After doing so, he literally heaved the pole toward and over him.  The pole flew over the building and before it reached the limit of the Panzer's line, Sam detached the anchor from the pole.  As the pole flew in the B.Dagger's general direction, Sam popped out and charged toward his opponent while randomly juking and zigzagging to hopefully throw off any long-range fire.

Tch.

The pilot grumbled after the attack apparently recoiled against the mobile suits. The M1A Astray took several steps back after the attempt at the GuAIZ's torso with the shield, only to realize that the GuAIZ in on it's way up into the air, at least several stories above him.

Obviously he is not being very happy at what happened, but Ryota knew very well that it is part of battles.

Reading the movement of the GuAIZ, little movement from the GuAIZ's beam rifles have awakened the buzzers in the cockpit, signaling that there are in fact green beams on their way to finish him off. Without wasting a breath, he immediately store the beam saver, and immediately thrust the joysticks in front, to send the M1A Astray forward.

Using the shield, he blocked off the shots aimed at his head and the arms, but he knew that it would take an extra effort to avoid the ones going for his back. Using the additional vernier thrusters the M1A Astray have over the normal Astray, Ryota performed a jump-jet move with the M1A Astray, literally leaping from the ground, to the spot where the beam sniper rifle was. The last of the two green beams narrowly missed the M1A Astray's legs.

Quickly, the mobile suit landed on the ground with a bump, and the mobile suit's hand immediately reached for the handle of the beam sniper rifle, turning around behind cover of ruins and aims it at the GuAIZ, firing two shots at the GuAIZ's backpack thrusters, and another shot at the waist.
