[Destiny League S01] TNT vs ABC

OOC: team members confirmed, and mobile suits fit the given standards, Let the first round of the destiny league begin!   ((PS: don't let my intro go to waste ))

------------------------------------------------------

The roar of the crowds in the stands made the sounds of the approaching mobile suits pale in comparison to their combined clamor.  Some cheering on personal favorites, some calling out raucous  jeers at their hated teams, while others came only to watch the spectacle of battle.  Vendors moved through the stands, their voices strained as they fought to be heard over the crowd, selling refreshments and souvenirs of a variety of sorts.  The microphone amplified voice of the announcer rang its way across the flatlands of the artificially produced city that was about to become a battlefield, ushering in an almost deadly silence.

"Welcome one and all, to the first match of the highly anticipated Destiny League!  These valiant competitors have fought their way here for fame and glory, reminiscent of the roman gladiators of old.  Men and women alike, their mobile suits the pinnacle of modern warfare technology.  And now, without further ado, let me introduce the brave souls who will be remembered as the ones who began the CE 85 Destiny League; Theta Nu Theta and Armor Break Cadenza!"

The cheers.

The roars.

The light of anticipation awaiting beyond the exit to the arena of battle (though they were really just in a tunnel with less lighting).

It was not what he came for exactly, but they excited him nevertheless, every cheer seemingly increasing his heartbeat, and every vibration spreading the adrenaline through his system. It was little to say the least, but he could hardly imagine what he will feel like in the Coliseum had he less self-control over his emotions.

With a little effort, he calmed himself down and glanced about. A ZGMF-515 CGUE and GAT/A-01E2 Buster Dagger stood near his own GuAIZ, and although he could not see their expressions, he knew them to be somewhat nervous or excited as well. With all the noise and fanfare, he could hardly recall the first time when he had joined the team...

This is it... Shutting off his mind to all but thoughts on combat instinctively, he waited tentatively for team leader Valiant to take the first step into the arena.

Which, incidentally, happened to be the Danse Macabre's first foot into the Coliseum as a team participant as well.

What is awaiting him probably surprised the pilot by more than just mere light years. In fact, it is totally surprising to see that the crowd could swell to numbers that could make the stands themselves explode from the sheer amount of spectators watching what is probably the very first match in the Destiny League.

The sounds did little to bring down the excitement anyone around could possibly have; after all, today is their big day, and it is just the tip of the iceberg. Looking left and right did nothing to reveal what could be in store for the team, for that this is the first time they would be battling together, as a team of 3.

Against another team of 3, that is.

Probably today everything will work out, that he can never be sure, as the team sported mobile suits that would probably never be on the same side more than 10 years ago. That is, a Sword 105 Dagger, a GINN High Maneuver Type, and his own M1A Astray, something he decided to pull in since the other 2 would probably play a more direct role, if their mobile suits are any indication...

He is probably asking what gives around here, but that would probably come in the way of the battle later. He takes a deep breath, and could barely remember the time when he first joined them...the only thing they know is that the team have a pretty 'weird' mix of people...

About time.

The time has definitely come for them to start the battle. Or at least, a step nearer to the battle that will span the battlefield, far and wide.

As Sam waited for his 105 Dagger to finish its startup sequence, he pondered briefly about the match.  This would be a team vs team match, which was rather new to him, a supposedly self-declared freelance combatant.  But he decided before joining this team that this would be the only way to compete in the League.  If this was the only way to face challenging opponents, so be it.

Once his Dagger was fully activated, he switched on the audio receptors, only to be bombarded by excessively loud cheering and shouting coming from the audience.  He reduced the sensitivity as he ignored the crowd as well as what the referee/announcer said.  Instead, he studied various maps of the current battleground, mentally noting vantage points that he could utilize, especially given the lack of range weaponry with his suit.  Sure, he still had the 105 Dagger's standard GAU-8M2 52mm Machine gun, but he kept it only as a reserve and did not pack any extra ammo.  He chose to rely on his Sword Striker pack, which essentially gave him half the attack potential of his favorite Gundam, the Sword Calamity.  For a mass-production suit, that suited him fine.

He looked over toward his teammates and knew that he had to factor them in as well.  His team 'leader,' Shirai, was really just a reckless psychopath.  But Sam admitted that the young man's ferocity and skill in melee combat equaled his own.  Then there was Ryota, who was definitely the more level-headed of the two.  That guy had a diverse fighting style and could switch between long and short-ranged combat instantaneously, allowing him to break the pace of his opponents.

After calibrating his communications hotkeys to Team, All Combatants, and General, he sat back and waited for this match to begin...

OOC: Sorry to have kept you waiting!

Valiant twiddled his thumb as the CGUE powered up. He was nervous. The feeling was alien to him. He had never felt this way in all his years of battling in mobile weapons. However, such anxiety was understood since the event was touted as the largest scale mobile weapon competition to be held. The Destiny League also boasted the most attractive prizes for the best pilots. The thousands of spectators that cheered the teams on were testimony of the League's popularity. Despite the fact that this is the first ever match of the Destiny League to be held, the marketing team has hyped up the event and sent the world into a frenzy over the event. The atmosphere was electric.

The operating system of the mobile suit was finally loaded. Valiant switched to his team's communication frequency and greeted his team mates. The CGUE was still in the hangar, hungry for battle. The power cables connected to the suit assured Valiant that he would not have to worry about wasting battery power that he would need to finish the battle.

"Alright, Theta Nu Theta. We'll put up a great show today for the passionate spectators," he stated. "Roll call, team. I'll need to submit the starting line-up to the referee before we can begin."

Strange squeaking noises came from Shirai Kanzaki's cockpit. With dullness mirrored in his eyes, he lazily bit on a thumb as he surveyed his environs. Having had his share of thrilling battles in the past, he was no stranger to the electricity that surged throughout the coliseum. However, remaining stationary within the confines of a cockpit did nothing for the satisfaction Shirai desired. Feeling ill at ease, he fidgeted around in his seat.

He had little reason to fight in the coliseum other than to bask in the intensity of the moment. He fought without the burden of a country on his shoulder, giving everything until nothing is left. If he was annihilated, so be it. The foe would be worthy. Not to insinuate that he would lash out blindly without care nor concern; if others depended on his strength, he would show it to be a worthwhile choice.

Arkan's relentlessness and Mitsukuri's flexibility... he couldn't have asked for a better Armor Break Cadenza. It was a pity that Ayanami would have to sit this one out, but Shirai had a feeling he would be seeing some action very soon. The tournament was only beginning, after all.

It was nearly time to begin. "Finally!" he shouted excitedly as he shot up from his seat. The GINN's monoeye flickered upon the suit's full activation. "Really hypocritical of me, but let's not get excited and stray too far, gents. We don't want to get singled out and crushed, do we?" Shirai mused, as he gave an ineffective pre-match pep talk. It wasn't very informative at all, but he babbled on anyway as he is the 'leader' of the group (a term used quite loosely by the ABC).

"Well, we know we don't have to worry about Ryota-kun over here when it comes to that." He laughed. Among the three of them, Sam and himself seemed the most reckless. "But you don't have to think that you have to back us up everytime. Do what you want. Just think of it this way," As he glanced over the GINN's status screen, Shirai Kanzaki flashed a malicious grin. "We're just smashing through an opening for you."

(OOC: sorry for taking so long, ive been thrown off with my schedule since i dont have school anymore =/ )

The GAT/A-01E2 Buster Dagger was one of the last suits to enter the field. Locke parked it in his designated spot and started to wait impatiently for things to get started. It was always this long span of anticipation with these sorts of battles. All the hype for just a brief moment of excitement, it bugged him. A crackle over the radio snapped Locke back to attention, he had spaced out after moving his buster dagger into the field.

"Roll call, team. I'll need to submit the starting line-up to the referee before we can begin."

He had his reservations about doing his first match with a team however it was an opportunity he’d be foolish to pass up on.”…Jonathan Locke standing by, Buster Dagger ready for action... sorry for zoning out…” He was feeling nervous there was no hiding that, and when he got nervous he did things like zone our or pay too much attention to things.

Locke pulled out the keyboard and began double-checking his systems as he waited, he despised all the time wasted before the battle actually started. Checking the monitor he realized everything was about to get started so he pushed away the keyboard and cracked his fingers. “Alright…lets do this…”

"Roll call, team. I'll need to submit the starting line-up to the referee before we can begin."

"Roger that. Danse Macabre, ready for action." Short and simple did it for him. He knew acknowledgement was just that. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and stepped out into the arena he knew would determine whether he would walk out of there in glory or in shame.

Well then, who shall I test first? He flexed his fingers, looking at each of his opponents in turn: One M1 Astray, GINN High Maneuver and a Dagger with an impressive anti-ship sword. It took a little over three seconds for him to decide which enemy he wanted to face.

A horn sounded, and the sea of cheers erupted into waves of noise, signaling the start of the battle. He initiated the first move, looking to draw first blood from his self-designated opponent.

Let's see how he reacts to this... He smiled. The GuAIZ's boosters pushed it forward, it's feet barely touching the ground below and the Danse Macabre fired off three shots aimed at the head, left arm and right leg of the Dagger.

Heh.

A short grin took over the rather boring expression the pilot of the M1A Astray has been having for several minutes before the match starts. Very little time have passed when the opposing team made their move to attack their team, with a GuAIZ making several shots aimed directly at Sam's Sword Dagger.

You're not the only one taking part in this little battle.

Using a combination of quick movement, he fired the backpack thrusters, and he proceeds to make the move to the front, immediately drawing the shield to the front. While using the shield to block the beam rifle shots, he immediately blocks the shots aimed at the Dagger.

Pulling out the sniper beam rifle, he fired back 3 shots at the GuAIZ, each of them aimed at the hands of the GuAIZ.

Sam didn't say anything as Shirai gave a glowing, if ultimately pointless, pep-talk.  He also did not correct their 'leader' in that this match was essentially 3 1v1 matches held simultaneously rather than a co-op 3 on 3 match.

Sam remained impassive as the horn blared.  He immediately noticed the TNT's GuAIZ take off.  Using the zoom-in function on his HUD, he noticed that the suit was aiming its beam rifle straight at him.

"An obvious attack..." Sam thought as he jerked his control sticks and tapped the pedals in a controlled manner immediately upon seeing the familiar green glow within the rifle's barrel.  His suit side-stepped to the left of where the beams would hit.  Before he could counter, he saw on his sensor display that Ryota already moved in to block off the shots and then proceeded to engage the GuAIZ.

"Thanks..." Sam muttered over the comm. at Ryota.  There were two more suits to choose from, a CGUE and a Buster Dagger.  When he finally decided, he grinned as he thought how appropriate this would be.  He drew his 52mm machine gun, fired it into the air, and then gestured at the Buster Dagger with his left hand, waving the hand back toward himself; it was a clear challenge to the Buster Dagger's pilot.

"The leader's yours, Shirai," Sam said as he engaged his thrusters and began to make his way toward the artificial cityscape.

((It's three 1-on-1 matches Is there any allocation or do we just pick our opponents? I guess I'll just go ahead and pick one. ))

"Since Macabre and Locke are the ready, you two will start. Tsubasa will be the substitute."

Valiant watched as Macabre attacked the Sword Dagger. Before the Dagger could react, the M1A Astray stepped in and engaged Macabre's GuAIZ. It appears that the Astray's pilot is keen to get things started. The Dagger turn its attention to Locke instead, gesturing a challenge at the Buster Dagger. That's interesting, he thought, two MSes of the same series. I wonder who would win.

Gripping the controls, Valiant readied himself for battle. He was not left with much choices. The GINN stood, waiting for him to make his move. The various thrusters added to the standard GINN chasis looked ridiculous but Valiant knew better than to ridicule his opponent. The added mobility from this modification would put him at a disadvantage if the pilot knows how to use it well.

They were too close to the other combatants for his liking. Firing the thrusters, the CGUE leapt through the air, landing some distance away where he could have the space to flex the mobile suit's muscle. He hoped the GINN would follow likewise, or he would have to get its attention with his rifle.

There it was, the electricity he desired. Sparkling and pulsating in front of him, waiting to be seized. Showtime. A brief explosion of thrust from the GINN's thrusters pivoted the machine in Arkan's direction. "You don't need to tell me." Shirai, replied, eyeing the angelic ivory-white weapon soaring above him. It was a threatening situation made even more so by the possibility of getting picked off by a rifle. And this man, Valiant - he heard great things about him. Him and his machine. Somehow, he had a feeling that he wouldn't fire just yet - he was waiting for him.

Shirai Kanzaki smirked, light glittering in his eyes."I was planning to fight him MYSELF!" A thunderous thrust threw the GINN towards the enemy leader with breakneck pace. Blood rushed to his face, yet even the high acceleration was not enough to wipe the smile off of his face. A series of  softer bursts propelled him sideways, allowing the machine to slow down and fly in a circular fashion - he was attempting to circle around him. "Away from everyone else, right? Give me your all, then!" Drawing its assault rifle, the grey GINN let loose a burst of fire as it flew sideways, keeping the CGUE in its sights.

Before Locke knew it the battle had begun. Without putting much thought in to his actions he sent the dagger in a leap backwards to gain more distance. he knew that the first thing he would have to do was gain more ground so he could put use his mobile suit’s special equipment to good use.

As his mobile suit went into the air a flash made him flinch in fear. For a moment he thought someone had already taken a shot at him then he realized that it was the enemy sword dagger trying to get his attention. The young coordinator squinted in curiosity, the notion of that that specific suit was trying to challenge made him wonder what the pilots was thinking, but Locke was certainly up for the challenge.

He switched his rifle configuration so he could fire a spread shot. The targeting reticule on his heads-up display flickered until finally beeping in a “lock-on” confirmation. “Alright lets see what you’re trying to do by challenging me…”

"Ho..." It was just as he expected. Theoretically speaking, the Sword Dagger was extremely dangerous up-front, but posed little of a threat from far. Of course, those were assumptions made purely from the technical specifications of the mobile weapon, which was why he chose simply to test the pilot.

It would seem someone else took up the challenge instead... He pondered and straightened the right arm of his own mobile suit up so that the shot meant for it passed by harmlessly. He needn't bothered with the last one aiming for his left hand, though; the shield was more than enough.

With a firm jerk, the Danse Macabre straightened his GuAIZ's right arm. Aiming straight for the torso and groin portions of his current opponent, he fired off two beams simultaneously at the left and right chest plates of the Astray, letting loose his final one at the groin section as he moved forward with the GuAIZ's beam claws extended.

Come on, now, Orange-boy. Let me see what you're really made of... He grinned as he squeezed off another two rounds at the spaces above his opponent's left shoulder and below the groin section of the suit.

He knew he had it coming for a while now, when the control systems beeped at incoming weapons fire from the GuAIZ, as a response to Ryota himself taking the GuAIZ's line of fire to challenge him.

Tch. He quickly groaned for a split second, adjusting his movements which slightly jerked as he streamed the M1A Astray to the left to avoid the beams being fired at him, narrowly missing the green beam that were meant for the cockpit, from at least what he gathered.

Obviously that does not mean that his job here is done for, he still got another set of incoming beam fires from the GuAIZ's beam rifle to avoid, while answering back the challenge of the ZAFT mobile suit with a pair of his own from the beam sniper rifle, aimed at the lower torso and the right calf.

Probably advances of stuff around that time is pretty quick. He muttered, taking a note on how fast ZAFT's mobile suits moved to beam weapons in the space of years in the wars. Keeping that in mind, the M1A Astray leaped into the air, blocking the beam with the shield, and let the other beam aimed at his groin passed harmlessly, creating a pile of dust at where it hit. Quickly, he puts away the beam sniper rifle, and prepares the beam saber for an incoming attack from the GuAIZ's extended beam claws.
