MBF-P01 Gundam Astray Gold Frame

The Orb Union began developing the Astray alongside the Earth Alliance GAT series at the Orb colony Heliopolis in CE 70. Much like the Earth Alliance prototype mobile suits, the Astray Mobile suits are able to use Beam Weapons and and plug technology which would share data and energy with the equipped weapons.

Unlike the Earth Alliance prototypes the Astray series was not equipped with Phase Shift armor, instead opting for light weight and higher mobility to compensate for the lackluster armor.

(For the Homeland) On January 25th CE 71 ZAFT forces caught wind of the Earth Alliance manufacturing mobile suits and sent a team to steal the new mobile weapons. During the heist a group of Orb commandos responded to the crisis by stealing the battleship Archangel along with the Earth Alliance’s Strike Gundam. During the chaos they secured and activated three Astray Gundams of their own creation and repelled the ZAFT forces at the cost of Heliopolis being destroyed.

The Gundam Astray Gold Frame was commandeered by Lieutenant Nathaniel Barondel. He used the unit to fight off a GINN, and eventually confronted the ZAFT flagship to negotiate a cease fire.
