Personality:

Pragmatic and bitter. Edwin is good at hiding his emotions and “putting on a show”. He is good at planning and can often be found deep in thought. Because of his experience he’s garnered a lot of respect within Gjallarhorn and doesn’t squander his popularity with his real emotions openly.

 

Strengths and weaknesses:

Physically crippled - below his left elbow he is missing his forearm and hand. He wears a mechanical prosthetic that does function in a convincing manner but almost feels like more of a hindrance in the cockpit of a mobile suit. His condition has left him bitter about his body. Being so grievously injured has made him aware of mortality. He keeps his injury a secret from all but his closest affiliates.

Family - he is loyal to his immediate family and will often go out of his way to help them out. If he feels they are in serious danger he will act out irrationally. Alternatively it’s because of his family that he has been able to get through his hardships and elevate within Gjallarhorn, they are his emotional anchor.

Snob - Edwin knows he is blue blooded and acts accordingly, sometimes treating lower class people in a lesser manner.

Skilled pilot - he’s a veteran of minor skirmishes and is perhaps one of the best pilots in Gjallarhorn. He has good instincts and quick reflexes. Despite his injury he is able to compensate and function as a competent ace.

 

Appearance:

Clean and well groomed, he holds a noble air about himself which could be intimidating to others. He is missing his left arm and will often wear a prothstetic to put people at ease and hide he wound.

 

History:

Edwin was born a noble in house Bauduin. As a single child he grew up comfortably, if not under strict guidelines. He knew early on that he would have to follow a certain set of rules the rest of his life. One such circumstance of his life was having an arranged marriage with Abigail Elion, a union which would greatly strengthen the ties and positions of both families. Fate seemed to favor the two due to them being close in age (with Abigail slightly older) they were able to grow up together and become close friends. As they grew into their teens Edwin began to form genuine affection towards Abigail, something that she merely went through the motions of; appreciative of Edwin but never fully returning the affection. Nevertheless, they did have a child together, a boy named Thomas Bauduin.

Edwin followed his proud family tradition and joined the military. He quickly became familiar with mobile suit piloting and proved to be a capable officer. His first assignment was with the Outer earth orbit regulatory joint fleet, where he rose in rank and prominence. He was rewarded for his service and given a small patrol force to police the trade routes to earth. Upon leaving his post with the fleet he was given a Knight Blade to commemorate his service, a weapon he regularly keeps with assigned Schwalbe Graze and uses in combat still.

His task force was subsequently often sent to battle with pirates and other unlawful types and he became skilled in combat. He became cocky in his attitude about warfare and was humbled after becoming severely injured in a fight with a pirate band. The damage to his Graze extended to the cockpit and his left arm had to be amputated beneath the elbow. He went on leave to recuperate, despite this he spiraled into a depression for a few months after the amputation. It was the support of Abigail, Thomas and his parents which brought him back to his senses and he eventually found himself “amongst the living” once more. His family did well to hide this humiliation and he rarely lets anyone know about the injury.Those who know him could tell that he changed emotionally from the loss, but he did well to move on otherwise. He views his loss as a sacrifice for Gjallarhorn and its greatness.

After his hiatus he returned to his task force to help police trade routes to earth and to insure Bauduin family interest. He finds the recent turmoil within Gjallarhorn to be troubling and finds the lack of unity disturbing. He knows that to keep the earth secure that Gjallarhorn needs to focus on the outside threat of dissidents.
