[Battle: 2 person fun] Carpenoctum vs F.A.I.T.H

Waiting patiently in his mobile suit's cockpit Adokis glanced up momentarily from his book to look at his display screen. A few more minutes and the transport craft would be over the target drop area.  Setting his place he stowed the book carefully and began bringing the suit up from its standby state.  The displays snapped to life with his sure finger strokes.  When the OS was fully loaded he began his pre-battle check.

A soft crackle from the radio intruded into his solitude. "Sir, drop in one minute, prepare to disconnect from mobile APU."

"Acknowledged, drop in one minute."

Entering a remote command to his terminal the rear door to the aircraft yawned open. As the counter hit zero he hit the launch command and the sled his MS was secured to was shot out the hatch and the APU cable disconnected with a snap.  As his suit switched to internal battery he jettisoned the sled and brought his thrusters to life slowing his decent.  This had been a low altitude drop so very shortly the ground rushed up to greet him. With a quick flare his suit landed atop a small hill.

Making one more check to make sure everything was fully functioning, he walked over the the sled which had landed nearby and opened the case attached to it pulling out his suit's beam-rifle. Now he was ready for the fight to come.  Standing there in the field he waited calmly for his opponent.

He awoke upon feeling the jolt, but visibly relaxed as he sensed nothing amiss, though it was apparent that the other few passengers felt the disturbance as well. Nevertheless, it was safer to ask than to take things for granted.

"What's going on?"

"Ah, it's nothin'. Just a lil' turbulence. Nothin' to worry yer little heads over it." The pilot turned his head and cackled, displaying what little he had of his teeth and the same amount of discretion while ferrying his passengers.

Landis sighed. It was the best he could get at the lowest price for a mercenary transport plane for all kinds of people. For all he knew, the person next to him might be a traitorous fugitive, or a Serpent Tail soldier on his way back after narrowly avoiding capture. In any case, he was already thankful that at least the plane had sufficient space for his Murasame (The parachute was stolen, but he was not able to announce it to the world regarding that).

"Here yer are, Mr.Dinsel." Fake names are a must on such dubious means of transport and he nodded quickly, rushing to move into the cockpit of the MW he had brought along for the engagement. His fingers danced along the various buttons and controls and the Murasame's eyes flared to life, giving him a visual image of the interior. Moving it towards the closed hatch, he waited for the cue.

"All right! Yer all set to go anytime now." The hoarse voice sounded over the intercom while the hatch opened simultaneously. "Have a safe trip!"

Landis smiled, and jumped off the plane. He spotted his opponent-A small speck at a terrifying height of 500 metres-waiting for him already. Landis frowned. He was slightly late, or perhaps his opponent was just slightly earlier.

The Murasame continued to fall as he waited. There was little point in wasting energy to manuver the machine towards his desired location, so it was only until at least 2000 metres before he activated his parachute on the Murasame, eventually releasing the clasp a mere several dozen meters above the ground. The MVF-11C Murasame landed with a dull thump, planting both feet on the ground.

Directly in front was the Zaku Warrior, armed and seemingly ready for a fight. He smiled. In engagements like this, he was the Danse Macabre. Nothing more, nothing less. The Murasame would probably never be his first choice, but he was still confident that it would suffice.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Would you like to...dance?" He asked over the intercom, keeping a good amount of civility in his voice. Readying his beam rifle, he looked at the greenish mobile suit and smiled.

Random battle order:

carpenoctum

F.A.I.T.H

(I used a coin.  )]

The referee sighed as the ZAFT VTOL craft flew in a long and lazy circle around the battlefield.  He was very tired because he had to fly several time zones from the last battle zone without much time for rest.

"You'd think with frickin' GUNDAMs and N-Jammers, they would finally create a cure for jet lag..." he thought sourly as the console near the pilot's seat beeped.  Both suits made it to the battle zone.

He wearily took the mic, cleared his throat, and spoke in a strong tone that he did not feel, "This match between Adokas Silverkin and Danse Macabre is now set to go.  I want a clean fight..." though he knew from experience that it would be anything but.

"Ready...FIGHT!" he shouted.

"Dance? I would indeed like to dance," Adokis responded to his opponent grinning almost madly"allow me to lead off."

Bowing slightly to his competition he listened as the referee in a VTOL above the moonlit battlefield announce the start to the fight.

Whipping his hand to the ZAKU's hip he quickly grabbed the smoke grenade attached there and chucked it in  between the two suits, its timer set it  goes almost exactly in the center between them creating a large bak of covering smoke.  leaping backwards like a gymnast doing a backwards somersault  he put a quick burst from his back thrusters then using his hands flipped himself back to his feet gaining some distance from his opponent.

squatting down slightly he turns the suit shield forward to his opponent,  whips his beam rifle up in his left hand and squeezes of a quick three shot burst through the smoke cloud, his first shot going where his opponent had been, just in case.  The other two at slight angles to the first. Immediately after firing he began walking away from his firing position.

He still recalled the most basic yet important two words his instructor had first thought him about combat: Never panic. The smoke came and quickly devoured the surroundings like a pack of hungry wolves, robbing him of some of his sight. He calmly eased his suit back in a jump, landing on the ground with a defensive stance and waited. Moving needlessly in the smoke could cause him unprecedented damage, so he stood still.

The familiar sound of a beam rifle being fired came and the Danse Macabre was only too glad to block it as it came straight at him and was neutralized upon contact with his shield.

He restrained himself from gleefully pushing forward, for the smoke had not yet cleared. Almost as though to confirm his suspicions about fighting and moving blindly against a temporarily invisible enemy, two more beams passed by, a mere several metres away from where he stood. Not willing to take too many chances, he waited. One seconds, two...Nothing came.

I guess it's my turn now. he pushed the Murasame into a slight split second hover and switched it into the Mobile Armor mode, flying above the line of sight where he could get a complete view of the coverless grassland.

"Hello..." The Danse Macabre smiled as he spotted his target and zipped off towards him, squeezing off four beam cannon rounds aimed primarily at the chest of the Zaku Warrior and flew off and around, ready to continue attacking his opponent.

OOC: sorry about the delay work was being inconvenient

After his last beam left the barrel Adokis waited to see what his opponent would do.  Suddenly the Muraseme burst above the smoke cloud in its mobile armor mode.  He knew this would be a problem when his enemy first showed up. He could fly while Adokis could not.  Legs bent he kept his suit shield on to his opponent and moved around in a kind of shuffle step.  The murasume suddenly whipped toward him.

Seeing a strafing run in the making he began to walk faster to steepen the angle necessary to hit him, Suddenly the expected beam fire ripped toward him.  Sprinting he run under his opponents flight path as the beams ripped the ground behind him kicking up dirty everywhere. As his enemy passed over him he let loose with his Gatling beam cannon firing a solid burst leading his opponent to compensate for his speed.

After firing Adokis turned to fallow the Murasume keeping it in sight.

[OOC: How do you sprint when later you're making up for your lack of speed? Oh well...Just a small query ]

The Danse Macabre tilted his Murasame to left with a slight push of the controls and easily dodged the incoming Gatling rounds. It was at least a good reply to his own barrage, considering the fact that his opponent had thought of moving towards a place out of his line of sight and apparently firing at where he can't see. It was at a time like this where he was most gratituous towards the sensor systems installed in mobile weapons and his own instinct bred from experiences in fighting tricky opponents.

He continued piloting the Murasame forward, noting that the Zaku Warrior was hot on his heels or at least as fast as it could go. Applying a little more strength, the Danse forced the joystick up slowly, straining to gain a little more control over his machine. He smiled as the figures on the screen for altitude slowly decreased.

Almost there... Turning swiftly and making sure the Zaku was still behind him, he allowed the Murasame to dip slightly and  reverted the it back to the more familiar humanoid form, allowing him to stop and putting him just slightly behind his opponent. It was sufficient for him. Without blinking, he quickly transferred the "Ikazuchi" Type 72 Kai beam rifle to his shielded right side, simultaneously pulling out the beam saber at his side and activating it.

I've got you now...Aiming at the crown, back and legs of his opponent, the Danse fired off six shots in rapid succession and another two more slightly towards his two sides before putting the rifle away at his side and charging at his opponent courtesy of his thrusters, beam saber in hand.

OOC: sorry by leading i meant firing ahead of his MS, poor word choice on my part

The murasume dodged his fire and and moved away quickly. loosing sight of his opponent Adokis paid careful attention to his suits sensors.  His radar suddenly blipped as his enemy rushed in from behind.  He whipped around taking dropping to one knee shield forward.  The power of the beam shots rocked his suit hard as they impacted on his shield.  His screen flared, warning him his shield wouldn't take much more abuse at all. a couple of the higher shots barely missing his ZAKU's head.

His opponent was still rushing in sword out.  Popping out his beam tomahawk Adokis smiled, grabbing it in his right hand after dropping his rifle, then with his shield hand pulled his beam ax from behind his back.  He caught his opponents blade perpendicularly with his ax, then and swung forward and down hard with his tomahawk blasting with his thrusters back into his enemy.

He silently swore as he saw his opponent drawing out the menacing axe from behind. This is the last time I'm going to ignore the deeper analysis of various mobile suits...

True enough, it was a miscalculation of his part. Secondly, he could only get the Murasame on such short notice and he had been the fool who wanted to test his own capabilities out without all the more appropriate equipment and weaponry he was used to.

But now was not the time to regret or hesitate. He jumped back and drew back his shield arm, cutting off the power to his beam saber at the same time so that the Tomahawk passed through thin air, missing the Murasame's thighs by a whisker. The beam axe came towards him with a murderous intent. The Danse's eyes narrowed, stopped his backward motion by planting a foot solidly on the ground a several metres behind him and pressed forward as the axe came down at the spot where he was at seconds before.

With adrenaline pumping in his body, he sheathed the beam saber and pressed the Murasame forward and extended his shield arm into a punching motion, slamming the shield straight into his opponent. Without the slightest hesitation, he drew out his own gun and let loose two beam rifle shots at the dropped beam rifle so as to destroy it and cripple the amount of ranged firepower his opponent had.

Looks like I'll have to abandon my original plan in melee... He grumbled inwardly and retreated a short distance, observing what his opponent would do, beam rifle and shield in hand.

Adokis glared at his screen as his tomahawk passed through empty air, and then his ax as well. His opponent suddenly rushed forward. Cutting off his thrusters he crossed his suits arms in front of him. As the murasume's shield slammed into him he pushed off hard with his arms land back from his enemy arms still crossed weapons in had.  He was to momentarily stunned to stop his beam rifles destruction as it blew up between them.

Blasting his thrusters back on he rushed back at his opponent in a couple of quick zig zagging bounds, beam Gatling blazing fire as he approached, the when close enough swung his ax in from the side going for the murasume's shoulder of the arm holding the beam rifle. He kept his tomahawk help upward at his side in a guard position.

The Danse gave a satisfied smile as he watched the mini explosion, concluding the result of his little gamble even though the size of the flames signified the extent of a triumph over his opponent. It also did exactly what he had in mind: To agitate the opponent.

Of course, it was a double-edged strategy; If he wasn't careful enough, he might get cut as well. His look of cheer faded into one of intense concentration as enemy fire peppered the area around him. Several rounds did land on target and he had to adjust his shield into place so that he would not get damaged in the slightest. He noted that the Zaku Warrior was not charging in a straight line though, and silently commended the pilot for keeping his cool still, for firing at him would probably be a waste of power and time. The intent was clear: His opponent was still spoiling for a fight, and a melee one at that, considering that he was grasping the two wicked-looking weapons still.

The axe swung down viciously to his left, a move designated to separate a limb from the Murasame's torso. He narrowed his eyes, spun so that he would face the axehead and slammed the tip of his shield into the body of the weapon, stopping it mid-swing. Smiling, he swung the shield to the right and into his opponent again and without waiting to see what effect it would have on the mobile suit, he shifted and jumped back, his rifle arm still lowered.

"You still missed a dance step, friend." He activated the intercom and spoke quietly, his tone mixed with a light dash of amusement and tinted with a surface of mischief.

As his opponent shoved his shield toward him Adokis stepped back out of reach to keep from being stunned like last time.

laughing to himself Adokis opened his com, "Im sorry about messing up the dance, it won't happen again"

Sticking his tomahawk back into his shield he rushed again at his opponent, then whip his now empty hand down to his hip and threw his flash grenade in his enemy's face.  As the charge went off his blasted up into the air over his enemy facing downward blasting straight at the top of his opponent's MS.  Then as he came to land behind the murasume he pivoted to remain facing him, pulled back out his tomahawk and leaped at what he hopped would be his enemy's back chopping downward with both weapons.

The retaliation was expected. The moment the projectile left the Zaku Warrior's hand, he was already almost instinctively moving backwards to widen the distance between him and the impending blast.

Wait...This doesn't seem right... The Danse glanced at the grenade flung at him and realised a little too late that it wasn't just a simple, direct explosive attack on him. The sheer whiteness of the flare blinded him momentarily, but his hands did not stop moving to shield his eyes. Taking one's hands away from the controls is akin to suicide.

The logical part of his mind screamed continously at him to get further away from the scene, but eventually his instinct won over, and holding the shield in front of him, he charged with both courage and a readiness to pay for a possible costly and basic mistake. Instead, he heard a barrage of beams smashing into the ground where he was before and struggled to stop from grinning and taunting his opponent again.

There's no time... He shook his head to clear his vision of the numerous black dots and opened them just in time to see the Zaku charging at him with both weapons, baying for his blood. With bare seconds to react, the Danse leapt back for a moderate distance to avoid the blows from the beam axe and tomahawk, peppering the Zaku Warrior's head with vulcan rounds from his CIWS then firing first at the cockpit and head with two bursts of beam fire. With the first phrase of his action plan complete, he aimed one at the right thigh of the Zaku and shot twice.

His attack dodged, Adokis immediately expected some sort of retaliation and wasn't disappointed.  His enemy had again increased the distance between them. Dropping his shield in front of him he kept it at a shallow angle to reduce the stress on it as a hail of Vulcan rounds hit it.  Jumping out of the fire he barely registered the beams plowing the ground behind where he as just been into so much dust.

Regaining his balance Adokis whipped his tomahawk as hard and as fast as he could at his opponant.  The not to give the enemy a break charged in behind the thrown weapon.  Shield leading then when in range swing in hard from the Murasume's left side going for the arm holding the shield.

Is that all you've got...? The Danse smiled at the simplicity and directness of his opponent's attacks. How his opponent had managed to charge towards him despite what he considered to be rather accurate shots, he would never know. Perhaps he had considered the trajectory of the beam shots, but the Danse decided to attribute it to luck and bravery.

Simple as they may be, he knew that making a silly mistake in the face of one such assault could prove costly. As the tomahawk came spinning towards him, he stopped and placed his beam rifle at his side. As he pulled out the device from which would generate the beam, he added in an ounce of concentration and calmly slashed across in a quick draw of the blade, the beam powering up along it's intended path as he did so. It was a tricky operation, but somehow or other he managed to hit the projectile so that it was diverted away and subsequently landing on the grasslands at least a dozen metres away to the left.

The one mistake he made was looking to see where it landed. It wasn't until his opponent was nearly onto him did his instincts trigger off an alarm in his head.

Oh crap. Moving as quickly as the Murasame could allow, he adjusted the shield so that it covered his arm with ample protection. The axe slammed into it and the shock rattled him considerably, despite having the knowledge that he would pull through anyway.

This isn't over... He gritted his teeth, slammed a leg into the side of his opponent in what can be considered a roundhouse kick and allowed himself to drop towards the ground into a freefall.

Adokis figured his tomahawk would probably miss his opponant so e hadnt been relying on it very heavily, but it was still somewhat disappointing to him.  Damn! He swore to himself as his ax slammed into his enemy's shield.  His opponant  suddenly whipped around in a kick.  Adokis triedgto move his shield into position to deflect the blow, but missed slightly.  the murasume's leg skipped of the bottom edge of the shield and slammed into his MS's arm, trying to minimize damage Adokis threw his suit in a fall, going with the hit.

The ZAKU hit the ground hard on its hip and skidded a few meters.  A fast pivoting himself immeasurably he kept His opponant in sight. Still in a slight crouch Adokis spotted his foe, also on the ground.  Noticing the shield arm was now very stiff, and something in there was rubbing and creating heat when it moved, he decided to attack his enemy from afar while he had chance.  Sitting on his enemy he fired a long solid burst from his beam Gatling hoping to catch the murasume before its pilot got back up.  After firing he sprinted hard toward his tomahawk, keeping his shield toward the enemy, even thought the arm it was attached to seemed damaged.

Predictable... But this time there was no smirk on the Danse's face. It was a simply attack: First occupy or take the opponent down with gunfire before rushing in with a defensive barrier up in front to prevent any long-range hits and to act as a means of an assault.

With a few simple jerks and adjustments to his joystick and controls, the Murasame jumped diagonally towards the left, barely getting the better of the gatling rounds. One round certainly wasn't much to be concerned about, but the damage done by multiple bullets could well mean the end of his life.

As he waited for him to get closer, the Danse allowed his Murasame to drop into a stance ready for a melee fight, only to have it leap, transform and edge the mobile armor forward slightly. This time he turned it back to a mobile suit and utilized the CIWS vulcans, aiming particularly for the gatling armament before throwing his shield straight at the upper part of the Zaku Warrior. Finally, he fired four pinpoint shots at the legs and arms of his opponent.

This ought to be fun...At least, when I pull it off. He grinned despite the odds, knowing that if his opponent knew what he was thinking, it might go either way.

Having regained his tomahawk and re-stowed it in his shield Adokis turned back to face forward toward his enemy, and was unpleasantly presented with a still intact murasume.  He quickly dropped into a crouch to avoid the highly aimed Vulcan fire.  Abruptly his opponant threw his shield at him. Not really knowing if this this was some sort of diversion or something so he slung his axe on is back and pinched the oncoming shield between his own and his right hand.  The force of the impact still forced Adokis stumble back a little.  Using the two shields he made them into  a wall in front of him as the beam fire came in.

He moved the shields to try and cover the most that he could of his MS's body but his stiff left arm wasnt fast enough after stopping the shield attack.  Most of the beams wasted themselves on the shields. All but the fourth and most unfortunate one.  It hit the connection between  shield and arm and slagged the ZAKU's left forearm into some much scrap.

Not wanting to waste time worrying about his lost arm he reface his enemy and fired his Gatlings in a long wide burst at his enemy and the area around it.  Doing so even though it would seriously dent his energy supply.

The Danse had no time to whoop for joy. A damaged opponent could well have the ability to fight back in desperation. There were battles where tides were turned in the blink of an eye because the side with the advantage had been defeated in one strike.

Well, I'm certainly not going to get complacent... It was a fact he was made painfully aware of by the loss of his first line of defense. While the Zaku had lost a forearm, the shield might more than make up for it.

Well, at least I won't be troubled by any melee attacks. Damaging the mobile suit served not only to deter an means of an extra arm being used in offense, but also a psychological assault on the pilot. Any normal person in that suit would want to put distance and caution above all things in a battle like this one.

The gatling fire came in a wide burst, one which he easily dodged by moving the Murasame downwards. He was not safe yet, however, as the beam bullets began flying erratically around, all in hopes on landing a hit on him.

The Danse narrowed his eyes in concentration. Sometimes even a stray hit could mean a lot. He had to avoid all the shots closer to him. He edged the Murasame to the left, let it drop a few more feet and transformed back into the mobile armor mode such that he was more or less out of the hail of fire and was able to zip away, leaving the bullets in the dust.

Firing several beam cannon shots off straight at his adversary, the Murasame reverted once again to mobile suit form, landing on the ground several metres away from the Zaku. With little alternative, he charged, pressing him hard with gunfire from the rifle and when he was close enough, slammed home a diagonally right slash with his beam saber.

Adokis hated fighting on the defensive, He had to do something fast to turn things around, but he was down one arm and the tomahawk that been in that shield.  It was also rather depressing how much little his Gatling fire was doing.

This was not the time to back down.  He needed something, anything. He would keep looking for an opening.

His enemy was coming for him now beam fire coming. Bending knee he caught the beams coming straight in on his new shield.  The Murasume suddenly reverted to its MS form and came charging beams blasting in.  Backing  up slightly he kept his shield up between his enemy and him catching the beams. So enough his enemy was there in front of him  slashing in.  Adokis Droping on his MS behind he blasted his back thrusters as hard as he could deflecting the beam saber upwards and as he did so he kicked up hard toward his enemy's suit His thrusters adding to the attack.

Whoa! The kick came unexpected, and only his quick reflexes managed to soften the terribly harsh blow coming from his opponent. With the Murasame's joints seemingly groaning against the pressure he exerted upon his controls, he made it place a foot in front, effectively giving it a braking action so as to slow down his momentum and he forced it to lean back.

The kick came into his torso anyway, and definitely rattled him more than the first solid hit his opponent had given him. The Danse cursed inwardly. Having a lack of defense was something he expected, but as things look, he was going to have a much harder time without the shield at the moment. There was no way he was going to think of how to get it back at the moment, especially if his opponent was on the defensive and being cautious.

It mattered little to him. He would find a way past that defense and take him down, by hook or by crook. Having been pushed back several feet, he placed the right foot behind, grinned and enabled the Murasame to leap forward one more time as though about to engage his enemy in a do-or-die melee battle.
