New MS Project

Well maybe we should adopt the MW's original principles and focus primarily on speed with a secondary emphasis on power. Though one thing to note is that it is rather lacking in defense.

New MS Project

Well first let me say, welcome back. It's nice to see you back again, though I've done a little "retooling" of PLANT since you left; hopefully I've carried on the spirit of PLANT that you and hannahaki left to us. I do like the idea of the Electro-Magnetic Chain Mine, I personally couldn't figure out how to incorporate it into the KAMPFER's design. I also think its interesting that we both incorporated "krieg" into KAMPFER's initials and that the overall idea for the purpose of the MS is fairly similar between our two independent ideas. Maybe we can hash out some of this and together come up with a working MW.
3. Greetings oh one who's user name is in red, and therefore more primary than my own green listed name; yeah I just made a stupid little art joke.

New MS Project

General and Technical Data Model number: ZGMF-2084 Code name: KAMPFER (Krieg Advanced Mobile Protector For Elevated Response) Unit type: Prototype Advanced Assault Unit Manufacturer: Integrated Design Bureau Operator: ZAFT First deployment: C.E. 85 Capacity: Prototype/Recon Model: pilot and co-pilot, in staggered seating; Standard: pilot only, in standard cockpit in torso Height: overall height 19.5 meters Weight: 76.23 metric tons Construction: Unknown Power plant: 2 x ultracompact energy battery, power output rating unknown Equipment and design features: sensors, range unknown Fixed armaments: 2 x MMI-GAU29A 35mm CIWS, fire-linked, mounted in head; 2 x MA-M04 beam saber, stored on hips, hand-carried in use; 4 x hand grenade (ZR21D high explosive grenade, ZR274 thermite incendiary grenade, ZR13Q smoke grenade), stored on hip armor; MG1B-2236 "Romulus" multi-phase beam cannon, mounted on torso; 2 x MX2200 beam shield generator, mounted on forearms Optional hand armaments: MA-M24C high-energy long range beam rifle, stored on back, hand-carried in use; MMI-M116 190mm anti-MS shotgun, stored on back, hand-carried in use; MMI-BX104 320mm bazooka, stored on back, hand-carried in use Technical and Historical NotesDesigned in the most recent inter-war period by ZAFT the KAMPFER is a new prototype MW design which incorporates into a basic MS weapons and technology that had been previously exclusive to GUNDAM models. The KAMPFER is designed to function as a stand-alone unit, able to engage opposing forces with little to no assistance; as such the MW's design stresses functionality and fluidity, as is best reflected by the power and diversity of its integrated weaponry. Aside from being able to function in a stand-alone role KAMPFER is also able to act as a recon/commando unit and has been equipped with a long range beam rifle to allow the engagement of enemies up to 15km away. To facilitate all of these roles while abiding by treaty standards KAMPFER's battery received considerable attention from designers whose only practical solution was to simply equip the MW with two batteries, thereby enabling it to function for an extended period of time; it should be noted that even with two batteries KAMPFER's operating time is 1.5 times longer than that of a GOUF. Despite these many advances the KAMPFER comes at a great cost and so its production has been limited to 100 units, issued to only the most qualified of pilots; even still its impact will be felt should any new conflicts arise. As a high speed flight-type KAMPFER also can be used for recon missions, though in order to gain the speed needed the KAMPFER is forced to abandon all of its weaponry except for its beam sabers and CWIS.

Got it; I think I'll take my chances and leave my stuff as it is, though it wouldn't be too hard to redo if I lost anything.
6. Assured that his unit was loaded onto both transporters Wullf radioed to the pilot. "Unit 01 please signal unit 02 that both teams are loaded and ready to transport." "Received Foxtrot 01, radioing for takeoff." Leaving everything in the pilots' hands Wullf headed back to the hanger and slipped by the mechanics requesting that they equip his ZAKU with the Gunner pack. As he reached the base of his MW Wullf felt the VoLPHAU lurch as it went airborne. Taking that as his cue Wullf pushed a button on his waist which put his radio into transmit. "Foxtrot 01 to all units drop time is in twenty minutes." Wullf paused as he prepared to give his next set of instructions. "Please begin final check before we sortie and prepare personal weapons as well." Releasing the transmitter button Wullf sighed to himself, then he began giving orders again. "All units be aware that a small group of rebels has been spotted in the training area and if necessary we will engage the hostile force. Reports indicate that they are poorly equipped and at most they posses pre-First Valentine anti-tank weaponry; even still use caution if you engage the enemy. Base has only cleared us to engage them using personal weapons, I repeat engage with personal weapons only, no MW combat has been cleared; apparently someone in the brass wants to avoid any escalations through the use of mobile weapons. Once again, a local hostile force has been spotted and if necessary we will engage. This is not a drill people we will be firing live rounds at live people. Wullf out." With that Wullf removed his headset and began the ascent to his ZAKU's cockpit. With only a few more minutes Ahrend began to run through a final system check. Fortunately every system returned green and so his job became much simpler. Since he was still running off of the VoLPHAU's power all of the ZAKU's systems were up and interlinked with the transports, so he wasn't surprised when the captain's voice came on over the radio. Unit one to Foxtrot 01 we have reached the drop zone and going into hover. Opening back door in 3... 2... 1... mark." The VoLPHAU's rear hatch swung open and Ahrend was greeted by the Sun which would have blinded him if his ZAKU's cameras wouldn't have automatically adjusted to account for the glare. "Foxtrot 01," it was the captain again, "you may deploy at any... what the hell is that Allen?" Wullf noted the change in the captain's voice and immediately became concerned as he listened to their transmission. "I don't know, holy s*#@ they've locked on. F01 get out of there, s*#@ I've got smoke trails here." Wullf punched the transmit button for his squad's frequency. "F01 to all units emergency exit. Get the hell out of there!" Even as he spoke a shock rocked the VoLPHAU and if his ZAKU wouldn't have been secured in place it would have tumbled out of the transport. "All units assume that the LZ is hot and regroup at your fireteams secondary way point, further orders will follow from there." The only comfort that Ahrend took in this entire situation was that Laike's group was dropping several miles east of his; hopefully they wouldn't encounter the same problems he had but it was better to be safe than sorry. Wullf punched the emergency release button as literally slid out of the hanger as another blast rocked the VoLPHAU. Upon his exit Ahrend noticed the remnants from the surface to air missiles' smoke trails which led off to the north some ten or fifteen miles. Enjoying the fact that no one was shooting at him Wullf quickly reoriented his ZAKU to the sloped ground beneath him and landed with little difficulty after falling a few thousand feet. Surely their attackers had seen where they had bailed out and they'd be rushing any available units to their position. Wullf began to transmit over a secure channel, making sure that his scrambler was activated. "Kanto, the VoLPHAU will take care of itself for now begin moving to rally point Baker and we'll reorganize ourselves there." Rally point Baker was about seven miles to the south east and its most prominent feature was a waterfall, behind which was a large cave that they could take cover in; during the last war it had served as a secret outpost for ZAKU squads taking cover from AF patrols. Assuming that Kanto would follow him Wullf set out, putting his ZAKU into a run; after all he wanted to cover the distance quickly so that he could find some way to counter the insurgents. In his mind he began to formulate a plan, though he hesitated at the thought of what he might soon have to do. This was a training mission and he hadn't planned to do any killing; though combat and death often came when one least expected it.
7. 'Well I'm not getting anything done here.' Sakura resisted the urge to pout and instead slipped out of the building certain that she would receive a message from her commanding officer sooner rather than later. Heading out of the building Sakura craned her neck upwards as she examined the interior of Shesha Base wondering just where she would stay until she was assigned to a combat unit. "Well, I suppose that it doesn't matter, something will work out." With that Sakura began to search for a hotel that she could stay in.
8. OOC - Sorry, I'm not sure how I missed that. It seems that this is all my bad... You know what, let's just run with it and see what happens.
9. OOC: I wish you had mentioned this to me before you posted it. PLANT's government doesn't really permit for two Supreme Chairpersons, plus you'd be filling the role with an NPC which seems a little taboo. To be honest I was hoping that you'd use your free character to create a new character who would be installed into a high position in PLANT. I do realize that some of this is my fault, I should have communicated with you a little more and for that I apologize. Honestly I'd like it if we could find a way to take either one of your current characters or a new one that you could create and install that character as head of ZAFT, a position whose power would rival that of the Supreme Chairpersons. Why don't you PM me and we'll work this out?
10. "That's affirmative Foxtrot two. There are three wizard packs loaded on this VoLPHAU; select the one that you feel suits you best and I'll take one of the other two. In addition you can drop my commander title for the time being, I'll answer to Foxtrot One." Wullf set his radio to scan over all of ZAFT's military frequencies as he radioed Laike. "Laike this if Ahrend, did you copy all that? Let your team know that addressing anyone with use of the command structure is unapproved until we return to base. Between now and then call signs will do."
11. Sigh, I suppose that I do have to make some sort of formal decision on this since I hold PLANT's Supreme Council Chair. Official Stance: The official stance is obviously in the spoiler column for a reason, and that is so that I can say read between the lines. PLANT does have a defense network, it's called ZAFT. ZAFT holds in its possession the means to fight against any aggressor and can mobilize vast resources of men and equipment at any given time. ZAFT also has the ability to defend the PLANTS from nuclear attack with a Neutron Stampeder, no one ever said that only one was made. I will, and in the future will probably continue to do so, not support the construction of a weapon like GENESIS. It's cold, it's cruel, and after being the bad guys in the last two wars who tried to destroy Earth I'd rather avoid that path. Besides, global domination through use of super weapons never works out; if we want to control a country we'll build our fast food restaurants there and dominate them economically.

War Games

OOC - Due to an incredibly amount of confusion and inactivity the War Games are hereby postponed/canceled. So many people only have one character and I hate to see all of them tied up in an exercise that doesn't seem to be happening. Squad leaders, my encouragement is for you to get creative. Do whatever you need/want to do but try to reorganize your squads; right now everyone in the squads seems to be fairly active so maybe you can work with that. If anyone is interested I could work you into the training session I'm doing with Wullf Tai at the moment; I could either make it work for individuals who want to participate or if entire squads are interested. Once again I'm sorry. Part of this is my fault since I took so long to organize all this and then to execute it but, in my defense, I was just starting out as faction leader at that point in time and it did take some time for me to figure out what I was supposed to do. For my part in this failure I ask your forgiveness. Here's to what I hope will be a renewal point for PLANT and ZAFT.
13. Lieubei has agreed to ref this match so we should be underway just as soon as everyone agrees to the time limit and posting order that I set earlier today.
14. As of today PLANT once again has two faction leaders, the newest of whom is Ryou Misaki. Though he's just starting off hopefully this will give everyone someone else that they can go to and communicate with, which will take some pressure off of me to spend so much of my free time here. I hope you'll all be welcoming of Ryou in his new position and that you'll cut him some slack until he gets used to wielding SUPREME EXECUTIVE POWER or whatever we're calling it these days. In addition, since we're talking about leadership, I might meld the two original squads into one battlegroup. Since keeping a running membership in them isn't working too well I think that at this point in time this might be the most effective idea. Please note that I want feedback but if I don't get any I, now with Ryou's input and advice, will just run with it. I'll say it right now so it doesn't come back to haunt me later: It's a lot like voting people; if you don't give me your opinions now you pretty much lose the right to complain later. So complain away, or I dunno... compliment away, whichever you like best.
15. At this point I don't think that we could protect all of PLANT using satellites, given that there are so many. Unless someone comes up with something rather ingenious I don't want to put up anything like a satellite defense system; I also have a hunch that such a large military initiative would be a violation of one treaty or another.
16. Sighs, the point of the "0" was to completely avoid rating series that you haven't watched. After all if you haven't seen it how can you know whether or not it was good? I'd also avoid making any harsh decisions on Gundam 00 since no one has seen more that Episode 01, but that's up to you.
17. Which Gundam Universe is your favorite? Which series kicked some serious duff and which series left you wondering just what the heck those animators were thinking? This thread should primarily be used just to rate the series, not to critique other people's opinions on each series; after all there are things about each series and universe that we like and dislike and there's no need to hash out what's already been set in stone in the Gundam universe... or is it drawn on paper, I don't know I'm so confused... Just copy and paste the enclosed code and rate each series and universe on a 1-10 scale; this means that 1 is the worst and 10 is the best and there is definitely no 11 in this system. I'll get us started. Scale 0 1 ---------------- 5 ---------------- 10 Never Terrible Average Super! saw it. 18. Yeah the English dub is disappointing but that's what happens when you try to omit any use of the words "god" and "devil" from TV. Though the animation isn't super great either I still like it but it is one of the weaker of the Gundam series. I just can't express how torn this series makes me feel.

20. OOC - When I talk about Savior Gundam's disposable pod just think of how Wing Gundam entered the atmousphere in the AC timeline and you've got the idea. IC - Hitomi chose to enter the battlefield in a manner more suited to her unique personality. Having lifted off from Carpentaria earlier that morning she had piloted Saviour Gundam the whole way in subatmousphereic flight using a special disposable pod for the entire trip. Flying at 32000 feet was a rush in and of itself but as with all things it had to come to an end. Pulling up her MW's keyboard Hitomi began typing in commands and began using Savior Gundam's optics as a high powered camera. Perhaps she might be able to catch a glimpse of her enemies from this height. A red proximity alarm went of fin the cockpit, altering Hitomi that she was now flying over the island chain she would soon be fighting on. Calmly she pushed the red button below the alarm and felt Savior shudder as the exterior capsule broke away, and then gravity returned with a vengance. Hitomi plummeted down through the atmousphere falling nearly two thousand feet per minute until another warning light went off at 10000 feet. Slowly Hitomi brought the thrusters up to full power and brought in her Gundam on a shallow dive, aiming for the vicinity to the immediate right of Gaia Gundam on the southern island. At fifty feet above sea level Hitomi switched Savior out of MA mode and landed gracefully next to Gaia, as gracefully as a 77 ton MW could land.
21. OOC - We can but at the same time I don't want this to turn into some two month long drawn out RP. Let's take it slow for now. Perhaps I'll introduced some sort of field exercise prior to the MW engagements.
22. OOC - Actually, I think that I'm going to come up with a creative way to write out Pheonix if he isn't going to be around. IC - With all that said and with the squad disbursing Ahrend left the briefing room and headed down one level to the equipment room directly adjacent to the hanger and launchpad that Wullf Tai operated out of. Accessing his locker Wullf grabbed the small emergency pack that he had put together the night before and exited the room. Crossing over to supply Wullf bypassed the normal formalities with the Armory officer and had the man draw a standard issue rifle for him as well as 150 rounds. As he waited Ahrend set down his bag and drew out his own .40 caliber service pistol which he slipped into his waist holster. "Here you are Sir." The Armory Officer's voice drew Wullf out of his thoughts. "Thank you, but actually I've reconsidered. Would you please bring me the new assault rifle system." Given the varying natures of the mission Ahrend had decided that he wanted a weapon which could function in multiple roles. The new system would give him the flexibility to use the rifle in the assault, sniper or squad support roles. The new XMM-29 was all that in a compact bull-pup rifle which was fed by a 30 round clear clip. After a minute during which Wullf assumed that the Armory Officer was returning the other rifle the man returned to the window. "I'm going to need your signature before I can release this to you commander." Ahrend nodded his consent and signed the pad that was offered to him which he then exchanged for the rifle. Drawing back the receiver on the weapon Ahrend inspected the barrel, then he slowly turned it over looking for damages that he knew he wouldn't find. "Thank you Sir." Ahrend took the ammo pouches that had he set out for him and snapped them onto his belt. Then taking up his rifle over one shoulder and his bag over the other he ran out to the helipad. VoLPHAU Transport 1 was already standing by and Ahrend climbed aboard taking the first passenger's seat inside the door. Once seated he quickly reworked his pack so that his ammo would now be stored in several of the pack's outer compartments. With that done he got up again and after slipping an intercom over his ear Ahrend moved into the storage bay and moved up into his ZAKU. 'Fortunately ZAFT designers thought ahead and realized that we might actually need some storage space in these things.' Putting the rifle into the snug compartment to the right of his chair Ahrend tucked his bag away on the opposite side, thereby taking up all the unused floor space in the cockpit. As if on cue his ear piece gave off some garbled static and then he heard the pilot's voice. "Sir, we've received word that VoLPHAU 2 has finished launch preparations and are ready to lift of as soon as your squad is on board." Letting his mind settle down a bit Ahrend descended from his ZAKU as he responded. "Received pilot, I'll contact my lieutenant and we should be off within the next 10 minutes." Switching the intercom to another station Ahrend radioed Laike. "Foxtrot 1 from Echo 1; both transports are cleared for departure is your fireteam ready?"
23. OOC - Well he's going to be around for 6 more days but after that we're still going to push forward. Pheonix, maybe you can make up some kind of good, reasonable, explanation for why your character can't be on the mission. If you do get back before it ends you could just air drop in to meet us.
